Friends of Wind Cave Launch Website

Posted on 13th Jul 2012 @ 2:52 PM

Friends of Wind Cave National Park is a non-profit organization formed in the spring of 2011 by a group of citizens who were interested in the support and promotion of Wind Cave NP as a natural and cultural treasure. Another goal of the Friends group is to expand the awareness of the unique value of Wind Cave NP to the Black Hills community and to the nation. With the addition of the Casey property to the park, the possibilities are endless for the Friends group to help with projects and volunteer efforts.

 Upcoming Projects

  • Developing & administering a Park Tour Transportation System - picking up visitors from lodging facilities and transporting them to the Park for a tour (fee based)
  • Volunteer services for improving the newly acquired land - assisting Park staff in planning the building of roads and fences, and structural repair
  • Participate in Park research activities- animal counts, bird counts, vegetative surveys, etc.
  • Provide volunteer services at special events in the Park
  • Involve youth in educational activities
  • Provide a voice to promote and defend the Park when federal regulations prohibit direct intervention by Park employees

The group has launched a website - please visit for more information or to support the Friends Group - http://www.friendsofwindcavenp.org/index.php/home.html
